James Whalen serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Boston Properties, Inc. Prior to joining the Company in March 1998, he served as Vice President, Information Systems of Beacon Properties. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a recipient of the New York City Urban Fellowship. Mr. Whalen is a current trustee and past President of the Boston Chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM) and serves on the Realcomm Advisory Council and Boston Private Industry Council.

Ms. Shank is based in Boston and oversees portfolio management, including technology initiatives. Before heading up portfolio management she was a Managing director in acquisitions/dispositions and involved in all aspects of transactions. Prior to joining Beacon Capital Partners, Ms. Shank was a Senior Associate for Cornerstone Properties in San Francisco. At Cornerstone, she worked with the asset management team to enhance revenues and reduce costs throughout their nationwide real estate portfolio. Ms. Shank held positions at William Wilson & Associates, prior to its purchase by Cornerstone, as an Investment Analyst and as a Property Accountant. Ms. Shank holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Virginia, a Master of Business Administration degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Deborah Boyer is Executive Vice President and Director of Asset Management, responsible for the company’s portfolio assets nationally. Deborah joined The Swig Company in 2005 with over 20 years’ experience with major real estate owners and investors, providing her with a broad background in mixed-use commercial real estate. Her strategic management and positioning of Swig portfolio assets have been instrumental in placing the company at the forefront of emerging trends in the industry.
Reflective of her dedication to building a vibrant Oakland, Deborah serves as board president of the Lake Merritt/Uptown Community Benefit District and is a board member of SPUR Oakland. Deborah participates in numerous professional and community-based organizations and is currently a member of the board of directors for BOMA San Francisco.
As Senior Vice President of Business Development for Boingo’s DAS, Offload and Wholesales businesses, Doug oversees the strategy and development of Wi-Fi and DAS networks for Boingo’s new and existing venue partnerships in the commercial real estate sector and other verticals, as well as the monetization of those networks through innovative partnerships with wireless carriers (DAS, Offload) and Wholesale partners (American Express, MasterCard). His teams are responsible for generating nearly half of Boingo’s revenue. Doug has nearly a decade of experience in managing telecommunications infrastructure in large-scale, high growth environments.
Prior to joining Boingo, Doug was an early employee at Mobilitie where he was responsible for network strategy and the acquisition and development of telecommunications assets. Mobilitie was acquired in 2012 for $1.1B. Prior to Mobilitie, Doug served in a variety of investment banking roles at Wedbush Securities. Doug holds an MBA from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and an undergraduate degree from San Diego State University.
Dan Polito is a Senior Project Manager at Skender Construction. Dan helps oversee and manage Skender Construction’s operations in the San Francisco Bay Area with a focus on leading the tenant improvements (TI) group. As Senior Project Manager, Dan Polito is responsible for delivering projects on schedule and within your budget. Dan provides overall management direction and maximizes productivity and efficiency through constant communication. Some of his key projects have included buildouts for Capital One, Soho House, JPMorgan Chase and Motorola Mobility. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Peter O’Brien is the Director of Business Development for Honest Buildings. He specializes in working with real estate owners to create operational efficiencies through technology. Peter has been with Honest Buildings almost since its inception and he's excited to be part of the continuous growth of CRE tech.
Geoffrey Kasselman, SIOR, LEED AP, serves as an executive managing director at NGKF where he leads the company’s National Industrial Practice from its Chicago office. In this capacity, he guides the direction and expansion of the firm’s industrial brokerage capabilities across North America, including supporting various data center projects and promoting the benefits of sustainability, technology and innovation for the sector.
Mr. Kasselman is an innovation-minded futurist focused on harnessing transformative disruption and technology convergence in order to bring actionable ROI to the CRE industry. He has traveled the globe studying smart buildings and smart cities, provides mentoring to several tech startups and sits on various tech firm advisory boards, and is an accomplished speaker and author on an array of topics at the intersection of CRE and technology. He recently gave the Keynote Address to the National Academy of Sciences’ Transportation Research Board on Transportation and Mobility. He also serves as CEO and Founder of Op2mize Energy, a strategic energy procurement firm.
Mr. Kasselman has recently begun a one-year term as the 2017 Society of Industrial and Office Realtors® (SIOR) Global President. SIOR was founded in 1941 by the US Government to help secure industrial facilities in support of the World War II effort. In this regard, SIOR has been servicing the commercial real estate industry for over 75 years. In this volunteer role, Kasselman leads the preeminent non-profit commercial real estate services organization in an array of strategic and global initiatives while acting as an ambassador and discussing the many benefits of becoming a SIOR designee.
Earnest Sweat serves as an Investment Manager at Prologis Ventures. Earnest has a combined ten years of experience in the real estate and technology industries. He currently focuses on the technical and business model due diligence of investment opportunities. Prior to joining Prologis, Earnest gained portfolio management, venture deal analysis, and business development expertise in stints as an investor-in-residence at Backstage Capital and an entrepreneurial engineer at Camelback Ventures. He is an alum of Columbia University and the Kellogg School of Management.
